Dear Member of the IMS Study Group 'Cantus Planus':
It is a pleasure to take up my responsibilities as 'Cantus Planus' Chair by announcing that the next meeting of the study group will be held in Venice on28 July through 1 August 2014 at the Palazzo Giustiniani Lolin on the Grand Canal of La Serenissima. Our thanks go to the Studium Generale Marcianum, the Fondazione Ugo e Olga Levi, and the Department for Historical, Artistic, Musical and Demo-anthropologic Heritage of the University of Padua for their generous support for the upcoming meeting, and to Dr. Nausica Morandi (Fondazione Levi and Università degli studi di Padova) and Dr. Antonio Lovato (Università degli studi di Padova), who have kindly agreed to organize the meeting and oversee the publication of the proceedings. The official call for papers will be issued soon.
The Associate Chair, Dr. Jeremy Llewellyn, and I look forward to keeping you informed via email of news relevant to the study group's activities, including the call for papers, positions available, and announcements of publications by our members. Finally, Dr. Llewellyn, the Advisory Board, and I wish to thank Prof. Roman Hankeln, the outgoing Chair of the study group, who has given so considerably of his time and talents leading Cantus Planus for the past few years.
